Love Bletchley Day!

Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Council will be on the street again on Saturday 15th September encouraging everyone to ‘Love Bletchley’.  The aim is to get more people shopping in Queensway, supporting local businesses and to get traders to choose to come and trade there.  The first Love Bletchley day, earlier in the year, was a great success with many stalls along the street and shop staff joining in the fun.

We’re supporting the campaign with a display of photos because we want to see Bletchley as a thriving retail destination again – it will never be what it was, times have changed – but it can be better than it is now if people get out there and show entrepreneurs that there is a market in Bletchley for their goods and services.

Hope to see you there.

This weekend – 6th to 9th September – is the national Heritage Open Days event (www.heritageopendays.org.uk).  In Bletchley Library BCHIhas a display of photos and memorabilia related to Local Government.  From the early days of the old UDC to the new Parish Councils Bletchley’s leaders have negotiated major changes and directed development on a huge scale.

We are proud to have the UDC Chairman’s Chain of Office as the centrepiece – probably the first time it’s been displayed in Bletchley since the council was disbanded in 1974.

Don’t forget that Bletchley Park is also taking part in the HOD event and  Milton Keynes residents get free entry on the four days (with proof of postcode).  You can get more details about Bletchley Park  on the internet at www.bletchleypark.org.uk.
