How many of us in the past have looked at old photographs and wondered if the location had changed very much? This prompted a good friend and volunteer of BCH Alan Kay to go and revisit an area where he and his family had spent happy times together; the location was Water Eaton watermill. Unfortunately, time had not stood still, the ‘old mill’ is no longer used for milling and is now a private residence, trees and shrubs blocking out many familiar views. To help us to try and understand how the layout of the ‘old mill’ was, Alan has created this collage below.

Our current display at the library features photos of some of the local youth organisations through the years. This is to support a display of Guides and Brownies material celebrating the Big Brownie Birthday. Yes, the Brownie section is 100 years old this year! As well as celebrating, they’re looking to publicise the organisation as a volunteering opportunity. So if you’re interested, check out their website at:  www.girlguiding.org.uk/get_involved.

Do you know anyone in this photo?

Albert Street Bletchley

This is an unusual view of Albert Street. Does anyone know what the shops were in the old Co-operative building just right of centre? We know the Bletchley and District Co-operative Society built them in 1885 but it looks like some small shops were in there when this was taken.
